Description
Competition-level road shoes infused with S-PHYRE technology.

- Best-selling model elevated to "Ultegra" level with upgraded materials, fit and construction
- New synthetic upper blend ensures a best-in-class fit while reducing weight and increasing breathability
- Surround wrapping upper structure, originally engineered for the pro-grade S-PHYRE shoes, reduces overlap, eliminates hotspots and ensures a glove-like fit
- Precision engineered perforations, as seen on the S-PHYRE RC903, match the contours of the foot, improving comfort and fit
- Shimano's seamless midsole construction minimises stack-height and maximises power transfer
- Carbon composite outsole maximises power transfer and pedalling efficiency
- High rigidity, hollow carbon midsole efficiently vents air and drains water
- Dual BOA L6Z micro-adjust dials ensure precise fit and comfort
- Sleek, low-profile crossover lacing pattern elegantly secures the forefoot
- Shimano Dynalast - Optimised Shoe Last: The toe-spring section of a cycling shoe plays a key role in supporting efficient pedalling. Too high, and it causes increased tension in the plantar, calf and hamstring muscles. Too low, and you get a bowlegged, inefficient pedalling form. Extensive research by Shimano's R&D experts has produced a superior shoe last design with an optimised toe-spring section that promotes a smoother, more energy-efficient upstroke. Built based on feedback from pro riders, Shimano Dynalast helps reduce energy loss on long rides, letting you keep more in the tank for that final sprint to the line.
- Sole stiffness index: 10
- SPD-SL, Look, Speedplay and Time cleat compatible
- Reflective print for all-season safety
- Weight: 244g (size 42, single)

Shimano RC701 shoe review, Cycling Weekly magazine, November 2024:
"Shimano's RC703 road cycling shoe is designed for those seeking a level of performance similar to the brand's range-topping S-Phyre (RC903) model but at a lower price. Consider this an Ultegra-level shoe, intended for keen amateurs looking for fast-ride performance but a t a more reasonable cost-to-benefit ratio.
If you are looking for a shoe that performs at a level that is almost on a par with the S-Phyre, you won't be disappointed. The range of sizes available in both standard and wide fits is comprehensive and the comparative value is hard to ignore."

Verdict
Shimano's RC703 road cycling shoes deliver almost everything the performance cyclist could want. A stiff sole, sleek, clean looks and a wide variety of sizes in tastefully conservative colourways. The uppers need a bit of wearing in to become comfortable, and if you opt for a white pair, then be sure to save them for dry days because they aren't easily cleaned.
