Style | Ready for any escape, the Tour De Fer 40 comes jam packed with details and add-ons right out of the box. We've done the tinkering, the fettling, and the "what if?" head scratching so you don't have to. This model is ready for a round-the-world tour straight from new bike day. Sometimes do you wish you could just jump on your bike and disappear? The idea of it sounds great, proper freedom, escapism. In reality, you might need to do quite a bit to your bike to make it ready for whatever the road throws your way. That's where Tour De Fer comes in. A proper out of the box world explorer. Precious Metal Tour De Fer 40 has a rugged, smooth riding Reynolds 725 chromoly steel frame. Think of it as Chromoly on steroids. It's heated to around 1600 degrees Fahrenheit where by a structural change in the steels' crystal lattice occurs creating a stronger, more uniform orientation. This is following by quenching - rapid cooling - to lock-in the structural change. As it's stronger less can be used, so thinner butts are the order of the day, helping to achieve a lighter overall frame weight and livelier ride without compromising strength. The front triangle frame space has been increased to fit bigger frame bags on all sizes and mounting points have been better optimised for endless bottle, tool and bag combinations to help support you on your journey. Refined Drivetrain In place of a triple is a lightweight 46/30T double chainset, paired with a wide range 11-34T 10 speed cassette to give all the gear ratios you need to tackle any slope, even when fully loaded. Traditional Twist The Tour De Fer 40 is equipped with an Amplitude G100 drop handlebar featuring a subtle flair to increase descending confidence. Drop handlebars offer efficiency benefits as well as more hand positions than a flat handlebar. Accessorised Fitted mudguards, front and rear racks, dynamo lighting and comfortable riding, puncture resistant Vittoria Randonneur Tech 40mm tyres complete the tour-ready specification. The Tour De Fer even comes with spare spokes. Lowrider The AtranVelo Explorer front pannier rack keeps luggage as low as possible to maintain the Tour De Fer's sublime handling when fully loaded. AVS Compatible The AtranVelo Tour Lite rear rack is a sturdy companion with a 27kg load capacity. The AVS interface allows rapid installation and removal of compatible accessories without compromising traditional pannier fittings. Renowned Power TRP SPYRE dual piston actuation design brakes combine the easy maintenance of a mechanical brake with the improved lever feel and stopping power from a hydraulic system. Busch & Muller Lighting The dynamo powered Lumotec IQ-X headlight and Secula Plus rear light not only keep you seen in urban environments, but are powerful enough to navigate at night. |
