Style | Singletrack filled with rocks and roots. Loose climbs that take finesse to finish without walking. Steep, dark chutes through huge trees and over decaying logs. Ledgy switchbacks that you have only ridden that one time when you were in the zone. With all the buzz surrounding enduro, e-bikes, fat bikes and wheel size, it's easy to forget that THIS is what mountain biking is all about. Escaping your daily routine to ride your bike anywhere, on any trail, until you can't ride any further. This is why you began and this is why you keep coming back. The Occam celebrates this freedom and brings you to the places where it all started. The H30 brings 140mm travel trail fun within reach. The sleek and tough triple butted aluminium frame is matched with a Fox engineered Marzocchi Bomber Z2 fork, Fox Float rear shock, Shimano's 1x12 Deore drivetrain and a dropper post to round things off. It's everything you need to have a blast. Details: Hydro Aluminium frame Aluminium manufacturing and material technologies are used that are every bit as advanced as carbon processes. High-quality aluminium tubing undergoes processes to align the grain structure before undergoing an advanced hydroforming process giving precision control of the shape and wall thicknesses. These processes increase strength and allow Orbea to fine-tune the rigidity while optimising frame weights. Occam H30 tubes are triple-butted, saving weight in the areas away from the stress of the joints and the weld zones. Using aluminium technologies as advanced as carbon manufacturing ensures Orbea's aluminium bikes are never second-best. High Polish The biggest news for alloy is the addition of the new high-polished welds on hydroformed frames. Each weld on the main frame is polished smooth, matching the aesthetics of a monocoque carbon frame. Importantly the action of polishing the welds also increases fatigue resistance at these high stress points. High Polish requires hours of hand work and bead blasting so only the most exclusive frames are manufactured this way. Boost The wider hub spacing of Boost148 at the rear and Boost110 at the front creates stronger, less flexy wheels, and allows for shorter chainstays It means more durability, responsive and nimble handling and a bike that tracks better through rough terrain. Trail Geometry Occam's balanced geometry is fast, efficient, and above all fun on a huge variety of trails: - Slacker head angle = great stability - Lower bottom bracket = confident cornering - Longer reach = room to move while maintaining balance - Longer wheelbase = stable at high speeds - Steep seat angle = proper pedalling position Asymmetrical Design Instead of using a less-efficient "shock tunnel" the Occam offsets the shock to the left side of the frame, allowing the right-side support to be more central and more efficiently deal with the suspension forces acting on the front triangle. This solution enables Orbea to tune the stiffness of this high-stress area without adding unnecessary weight. Avoiding an interrupted seat tube gives more space for dropper posts plus improves access to the shock controls. Additionally, the tidy design leaves room for a water bottle with easy left-side access. Suspension Linkage Occam uses a new two-part linkage design. Fewer pieces mean fewer interfaces, greater rigidity and a lower chance of something working loose. Additionally there's a space in the axle specially designed for a multi-tool (optional extra) which is held securely in place with magnets. Always have the most-used tools close at hand for quick tweaks. Kinematics - Trail Performance A higher average leverage ratio increases the sensitivity of the shock to smaller bumps. Progressive suspension is supple and active with great traction but ramps up to control the inevitable bigger hits. Occam has a moderately progressive curve, at 22%, giving very capable trail manners with the fun, playful nature Occam riders love. Concentric Boost 2 The concentric boost suspension system, combined with careful placement of the pivots reduces the impact of braking on suspension performance. The anti-squat characteristics give fantastic pedalling performance and also increase traction at the rear wheel on those tricky climbs. The new CB2 does this brilliantly with fewer parts and reduced weight. |
