| Style | Featuring the lightweight CF3 carbon frame with race-proven geometry, the REACTO 4000 is far from an entry-level bike, but if you are starting out in road racing or want a fast and well-balanced aero road bike, then it's a perfect choice. The REACTO 4000 might be the most affordable aero bike in Merida's range but is far from being an entry-level bike. Featuring our lightweight CF3 frame with race-proven geometry, the 4000 offers impressive comfort due to the generous tyre clearance (up to 30 mm tyres) and the fitted S-FLEX carbon seat post. At the same time, the latest super smooth mechanical 12-speed Shimano 105 groupset keeps shifting in braking and perfect check. The latest version of the REACTO took the cycling press by storm. A long string of test wins, perfect scores and awards confirm our successful symbiosis of the race-proven DNA of the previous model with the latest trends and technologies. Cycling Weekly calls it "without doubt one of the most complete bikes available on the market", Cyclingnews "an utterly brilliant and faultless machine" and Cycling Plus were "hugely impressed". From serious racer via enthusiast to the ambitious road rider, the REACTO is a great bike for many people. Its outstanding aerodynamic performance, reduced weight, sharp handling and super quick acceleration makes it the perfect bike for criterium racers and sprinters. At the same time, the class-leading comfort gives it the ability to play out its aerodynamic advantage also on the cobblestones - or the idyllic but potholed littered lanes of your favourite training ride. It's based around a teardrop profile that was originally developed in the aeronautical industry, but the rearmost portion of the profile is cut short. This reduces the amount of material needed to make the tube, but air still flows around it just as well, giving all the aerodynamic benefits but at a lower weight. NANO MATRIX CARBON A special kind of carbon fibre where extremely tiny, nano-scale particles are added to the resin that binds the individual carbon fibres together. These then work on a molecular level to protect them from damage. It's so effective that it can actually increase the finished carbon fibre's impact resistance by up to 40%, allowing us to build stronger and lighter composite frames that result in a faster and tougher bike. X-TAPER HEADTUBE Steering precision is vital to safe and confident handling, and the X-TAPER HEADTUBE allows us to significantly boost this precision. A larger headset diameter at the bottom paired with a smaller one at the top helps to deal with the strains modern riding and equipment can put on the headtube, all without adding unnecessary weight. It allows tapered forks to be fitted with ease and delivers precise and confidence-inspiring steering. INTERNAL CABLE ROUTING Running the brake and gear cables inside the frame protects them from the elements, gives a clean and neat look and can offer aerodynamic advantages. DISC COOLER Used on our carbon fibre road and gravel bikes, DISC COOLER is a finned piece of forged aluminium that sits between the brake calliper and frame. The aluminium piece helps to draw heat from the braking system and radiates it away quickly. It reduces the temperatures by up to 35% and helps to keep your brakes working at their best for improved control and performance on long descents and under heavy braking.
