Style | If you're looking for a highly comfortable road bike that can easily deal with rough road surfaces to make long road outings less strenuous, then look no further. SCULTURA ENDURANCE 9000 is the top of the line carbon tarmac endurance bike, featuring Merida's lightweight CF3 carbon frame with comfort-orientated geometry, tyre clearance for up to 35mm wide tyres and a full carbon fork for additional shock absorption. As the range topping model, it boasts a Reynolds ATR tubeless ready carbon wheelset, 2 x 12 SRAM Force AXS wireless drivetrain, Force AXS Powermeter and hydraulic disc brakes, plus fully integrated carbon cockpit. The SCULTURA ENDURANCE is the perfect choice for more leisure-focused cyclists who want to enjoy long hours in the saddle while being comfortable and relaxed on the bike. Wide tyres offer plenty of comfort, even on the most pothole-littered country lanes, while a longer head tube provides a more relaxed riding position. The slacker head tube angle and slightly longer wheelbase give the bike more stability at speed. To increase frame stiffness and steering precision the Scultura Endurance uses 12mm bolt through axles and a full carbon tapered fork. There's plenty of tyre clearance (up to 35c, or 32c if you are running mudguards), and larger volume tyres can be run at lower pressures to provide more comfort even on the most pothole littered country lanes. Merida have used plenty of neat touches such as routing shifting and brake cables through the headset to declutter the cockpit. Even the seat clamp is hidden and the rear seat stay bridge can be removed if you don't want to mount mudguards. The hydraulic disc brake callipers are mounted via the flat mount standard for a neat, flush fit. They sit on top of CNC'd aluminium Disc Cooler fins which reduce operating temperatures by up to 35%. An instant hit with the international cycling press and, besides being given a "comfort" award by RennRad magazine, it also managed to get a long list of compliments like "excellent comfort", "confidence inspiring", "lively feel" and "enjoyable" by reference cycling media such as Gran Fondo, Cyclingnews, Cyclingtips and Road.cc. Compared to its namesake, the SCULTURA, the ENDURANCE has a more comfort-orientated geometry, plenty of tyre clearance and seamless integration of the latest standards. It sits between the road-biased SCULTURA on one side and the gravel/adventure SILEX on the other. This makes the rear end more comfortable, can improve power delivery and has a positive impact on rider fatigue. In particular, on performance bikes that are ridden over long distances and uneven surfaces, this can have a great effect on the overall riding performance and enjoyment. NANO MATRIX CARBON A special kind of carbon fibre where extremely tiny, nano-scale particles are added to the resin that binds the individual carbon fibres together. These then work on a molecular level to protect them from damage. It's so effective that it can actually increase the finished carbon fibre's impact resistance by up to 40%, allowing us to build stronger and lighter composite frames that result in a faster and tougher bike. WIRE PORT All control cables like gear, brake and dropper post cable enter the frame through a specifically shaped headset cap, cleaning up the cockpit area while also keeping them out of harm's way. Only the internally routed cable for the rear shock lockout enters the frame directly into the top tube for extra smooth lockout action. INTERNAL CLAMP When every second counts, the smallest of details can make the difference between winning and losing, so we look at every aspect of our frames to make them as sleek as possible. By using a seat post clamping mechanism that secures the post with a wedge inside the frame itself, we minimise the turbulence and potential drag while keeping post height adjustment simple, giving a frame that is more aerodynamic and also better looking. DISC COOLER TECHNOLOGY DISC COOLER is a finned piece of forged aluminium that sits between the brake calliper and frame. The aluminium piece helps to draw heat from the braking system and radiates it away quickly. It reduces the temperatures by up to 35% and helps to keep your brakes working at their best for improved control and performance on long descents and under heavy braking. REMOVABLE F-MOUNT A special, removable piece fitted to the seat stay bridge that can be attached to the bike to allow full mudguards to be fitted easily for protection from water and dirt, but also completely removed to increase tyre clearance and give a clean, sleek look to the bike when full guards are no longer needed. This gives the bike the benefit of full mudguards when required but no unsightly mounts when they are not.
