Style | DEMO BIKE AVAILABLE Please contact us to arrange your test ride Rise Beyond Rise is a machine designed to expand your trail experience. It's an e-bike designed specifically for the trail rider that's minimalist, integrated and sleek with no bulky components to take you out of the moment. Riding on trails with the electric momentum of an e-bike is exciting, but as e-bikes get more powerful, something important is lost. The smooth, natural experience of riding "normal" MTB goes away. If the goal is to climb more, descend more and have more fun, then there's no need to sacrifice simplicity, responsiveness, excellent handling or weight. The Rise was born with a new eMTB philosophy: to bring fluid autonomy to an e-bike, where power, distance, interface and weight are addressed as a single, cohesive system. Rise brings you closer to the trails and the ride, nearer the sensation that less "e" delivers more "bike". Whether you crave riding greater distances, reaching more epic locations, improving efficiency or increasing the frequency of your adventures, Rise beyond expectations and discover the new standard in MTB. Highlights: - Lightweight OMR carbon frame and RS e-bike system gives the Rise M20 a total weight of approximately 18.3kg - Long range: lighter bike, more efficient battery cells and lower power consumption result in ride times in excess of 4 hours - Capable: handling characteristics akin to the highly regarded Occam trail bike - Trail ready specification including 140mm travel Fox 34 Float Performance forks, Fox Float DPS Performance shock, Shimano 1x12 SLX/Deore drivetrain, Shimano M6100 brakes, OC1 dropper post, RaceFace AR wheels and Maxxis Dissector and Rekon tyres Rider Synergy (RS) Concept RS is a new philosophy - a new riding experience that enhances the joy of traditional trail riding with smooth support that feels as natural and alive as your own body. It results from a completely integrated system that becomes a reality when Power, Range, Interface and Weight are considered together. Details: RS Power When Shimano shared the plans for their new EP8 motor, Orbea quickly realised that this awesome drive unit offered the perfect platform on which to build the RS Power concept. Orbea's dream of a rider first, highly responsive and super-efficient system was within reach. Working together Orbea developed proprietary electronics and batteries while Shimano configured the EP8 motor. The maximum torque of the EP8 RS motor is 60Nm, with a power map designed to match your pedalling and cadence in a subtle, natural yet energetic way. The motor delivers maximum power when you are pedalling the strongest: the harder you pedal, the more power it will deliver. The instant power transmission is quiet and unnoticeable, yet it's sensitive and ultra responsive to your output, encouraging you to keep pedalling. Responsive: Power is only as useful as the manner in which it is applied. The EP8 RS power band feels alive, smooth and responsive, echoing your input and cadence. Orbea's custom electronics are tuned so that the peak power delivery come at rider cadences of 75-95 rpm. This is no coincidence, as this range happens to be where experienced riders produce the most power and efficiency. This way the human and bike interaction is optimised and natural riding is enhanced. - The harder you pedal, the more assistance Rise provides - Full power comes when you're also doing your best - It's instantaneous and extremely sensitive to your output - It's an amazingly natural feeling that encourages you to pedal - One of the quietest motors on the market provides a totally unique feel - Maximum torque: 60Nm - Weight: 2.6kg Customisation: As we are all different riders and we have different needs, Rise comes with two preset RS Power profiles. Both profiles can be fine-tuned in seconds to your personal liking, using the Shimano E-tube mobile app. Profile 1 delivers a more subtle support feel, maximizing range and natural riding experience Profile 2 is tuned for slightly more assistance within the RS Power parameters RS Range Rise is intended for big rides. The 2.2kg main battery is one of the lightest, slimmest and most efficient examples available. Housed in a strong and reliable alloy case, this energy bank is based on the newest 21700 cell that provides a higher rate of charge/discharge and ultimately much better battery life and heat management. The RS concept allows a great day on the trails because the lighter bike, lower power consumption and of course, the pedal-friendly weight and assistance extends battery life by a factor of over 1.5x. This means the 360Wh RS Battery delivers ride times (of over 4 hours) and ranges similar to a 540Wh battery in a typical e-bike. Rise features a modular battery solution that provides up to 612Wh, combining the main battery integrated in the down tube with an optional patent-pending 252Wh range extender. Adding the RS Range Extender gives an extra 70% of ride time, comparable to a 900Wh battery on a regular e-bike. The range extender cage is also compatible with standard water bottles, so you can optimise the battery/hydration configuration of every ride. RS Interface A sleek, uncluttered machine is a critical aspect of the RS philosophy. The standard configuration consists of a discreet rocker switch near the left brake lever to control assistance level and a small, inline junction box with two LEDs that provides support mode information and smartly broadcasts wireless data. Expandable: The classic GPS and cycle computer data is available through Garmin IQ, so that you can have all the information you could wish for - support mode, assist level, cadence, range, speed - on your favourite computer or smartwatch. Data is recorded within the Garmin IQ interface for further study, sharing with friends or just for reference months later to see how much battery was used in that epic ride you want to repeat. The Shimano EP8 display can also be added. Power button and charge port: The power button is tucked away by the bottom bracket, and all wires are routed internally. The charging port on the side of the seat tube is protected by a tough water and dirt proof cover. It also has an integrated Clean Clip feature that holds plugs tightly when using the RS Range Extender or just sealing the connectors when closed. RS Weight The RS motor, battery and electronics are lighter than other e-bike systems by over half. The beauty of the RS system is that assistance torque and power is provided within a range where normal, lighter, high-quality trail bike components can be used. Without the need for an overbuilt steel chainring Orbea and ethirteen have co-developed an exclusive alloy forged and CNC-finished 32T chainring that's light and provides perfect gearing. Rise M-LTD models can weigh as little as 16.2kg, while this Rise M20 model weighs approximately 18.3kg. Frame Rise shares the same super-light carbon frame construction techniques used with Occam and Rallon. At approximately 2300g (excluding shock), the Rise has one of the lightest eMTB frames available. Geometry The trail geometry is capable of handling the widest variety of terrain without making big compromises in any aspect of performance. Rise rules the zone between long-travel enduro territory and skinny-tyre XC efficiency that most of us encounter every day. Suspension kinematics Trail balanced 140mm suspension: the support provided by the progressive rate along with the anti-squat characteristics of the main pivot placement mean Rise is an efficient pedaller that won't sap your energy in sustained efforts. A high starting leverage rate gives a plush and active feel combined with excellent traction. A progressive curve controls the bike where the full travel is required - the big hits that inevitably come with pointing a capable bike down a rocky trail. Orbea Rise (M-Team) first ride review, E-MOUNTAINBIKE Magazine (see here): "Wow! That's exactly how you want an aggressive, trail-oriented eMTB to ride! As soon as you hit the trails, you realise that the Rise wasn't just designed to look great but also to deliver tons of fun on demanding trails. The handling of the Orbea Rise is next level! Hardly any other eMTB is this much fun and so fast on the trail. With the new Orbea Rise, the Spaniards deliver a well thought-out overall concept, blurring the thin line between the 'Light eMTB' and 'eMTB allrounder' segments. Downhill, the agile handling of the light Rise M-Team is a perfect match for sporty and aggressive trail riders. Despite the torque reduction, the bike doesn't compromise on the uphill either and the optional range extender lets you embark on long rides with your buddies with "Bosch League" bikes. If that wasn't good enough, the many spec options and countless customisation options of the MyO configurator allow for an individualised customisation of your Rise." Orbea Rise (M-Team) first ride review, Pinkbike (see here): "I was lucky enough to spend a decent amount of time on Orbea's Occam, and although I usually feel more home on bikes with more travel, I couldn't stop praising the trail bike's ride quality. Looking at and jumping on the Rise feels incredibly familiar, which isn't surprising considering it has almost the same geometry and suspension layout. This similarity is one of the Rise's biggest advantages, and it immediately translates into the feeling that you're almost riding a regular bike. The Rise isn't the first eMTB to try and bring the weight down by using smaller motors and/or smaller batteries, but their approach with an altered full-size motor that can still provide plenty of torque is one of the better solutions out there. The moment you start pedalling, it doesn't feel like a huge compromise that Shimano's EP8-RS motor only comes with a maximum torque of 60Nm. Most of the time you are moving the bike within a range that isn't using its maximum power anyway. The bike also doesn't feel under-powered with Orbea's custom algorithm, which builds most of its power at a later point of cadence compared to an EP8's regular setup. In some regards, people might even have an easier time handling the Rise in technical uphill sections. Due to its lower overall weight, it's easier to finesse over roots and rocks, and together with that gradual power buildup the bike is easy to control. Even when climbing over wet roots in the rain the bike didn't spin out, and still had enough push to make its way up the hill without stalling out. I've also never ridden an e-bike before where it was so easy to side lift the rear wheel or work on your trial skills in slow uphill sections." |
