DEFEET Slipstream 4" D-Logo Oversocks
|Options||L/XL 42-48 Black In Stock|
The Slipstream is designed o wear over your cycling shoes in cool weather or anytime you want an aerodynamic advantage. Made with Cordura for durability and abrasion resistance, and Lycra for a snug, smooth fit. Lightweight knit construction provides a comfortable, low-bulk fit for all riding conditions.
As recently as the late 1980s, professional road cyclists would wear a pair of socks over their shoes while racing and training. If asked why they did this, they would answer "it's warmer, more aerodynamic, keeps my shoes cleaner, looks better, and it makes me faster." Of course, one could argue that putting cotton socks over cycling shoes makes none of those possible. DeFeet crafted a solution that keeps windchill off the feet, creates smoother lines, keeps dirt out, looks better, and ultimately makes riders faster. Slipstream's also last much longer than a pair of socks while barely costing more. Pay homage to the classic era of cycling, wear Slipstreams and go faster.

Defeet Slipstream review, Road Cycling UK, September 2015 (see here):
"Oversocks were first used in the peloton in the 1980s, with Laurent Jalabert and Sean Yates among the early adopters, and DeFeet were one of the first cycling brands to manufacture oversocks.
Their Slipstream socks are excellent. They’re fairly thick as oversocks go and have a tall cuff, combining to offer a good level of warmth. Like Prendas' oversocks, they use a tough Cordura fabric (60 per cent Cordura, 30 per cent nylon, ten per cent Lycra) to increase their durability - but you do have to cut your own cleat hole and that takes some care to get a clean cut. As a bonus, they're available in a range of colours, including high-viz yellow and pink."
Defeet Slipstream review, Cycling Weekly magazine, November 2014 (see here):
"It's easy to roll your eyes at yet another slick modern, technical (and relatively pricey) take on the way things were, but we reckon most would agree: these work better, last better and look better over a shoe than an old pair of white cotton socks ever did. Not as practical as a proper overshoe though."
