VERSUS saddles incorporate a pressure relief area into the most popular Spine Concept shapes. Fi'zi:k believe comfort is achieved by optimising the seating surface area and that full cutout designs decrease seating surface and support. VERSUS saddles have the same surface area as the corresponding solid surface saddles.

VERSUS saddles use the same base as the current road saddles to maintain structural integrity. Saddles with cutouts have a weaker base structure, and begin to flex and sag immediately in use.

VERSUS saddles use the optimum ergonomic channel shape to ensure pressure relief and support without involving the sharp edges common in cut-out saddles.

Arione: maintains the shape of the very first Arione saddle, with the quality and comfort to achieve the optimum performance level. A unique, extra-long, computer designed profile and Wingflex sides have made the Arione saddle a worldwide best seller. Extended saddle length provides more riding positions. Used by pro champions in all disciplines. In VERSUS form the saddle has a super comfortable pressure relief channel.

Arione Versus: Made for Snake

Spine Concept realises that cyclists have varying degrees of flexibility. Human flexibility affects riding behaviour when cycling in a high performance position. Correct behavioural movement permits the cyclists perform at maximum output and at maximum comfort for extended periods of time.

The animal in you:
Flexible Spine.
Those with more flexibility bend to a greater degree at the lower part of the spine. In this position, the sit bones manage most of the body's weight with little pressure on the genital area.
You use the entire length of the saddle. You flex easily and naturally to accommodate changing positions. Genital compression is not an issue for you as your weight is supported by the sit bones.
Optimum Fi'zi:k Road Saddle = Arione.

Medium Spine.
The ability to flex your spine may vary with your fitness level. You adjust for comfort interchangeably, sometimes relying on the sit bones or sometimes relying on the genital area to manage the body's weight or when changing hand positions on the tops, hoods, and drops.
You are not as restricted to saddle shape. For optimum comfort and performance you flex instinctively to manage the body's weight.
Optimum Fi'zi:k Road Saddle = Antares.

Rigid Spine.
Those with less flexibility are not able to easily accomplish the high performance cycling position. To reach this position the pelvis rotates forward dramatically forcing the hips back. In this position, the rider's weight is directed to the genital area.
Such riders will benefit from the increased curvature (support) of the Aliante shape.
Optimum Fi'zi:k Road Saddle = Aliante.

Fizik Arione Versus saddle review, Road Cycling UK, September 2015 (see here for full review):
"There's always an element of subjectivity when it comes to saddle comfort, as what suits one rider may not suit another and the choice can be overwhelming, but Fizik's Spine Concept helps whittle down the options. I've managed to get plenty of miles in on the Arione Versus and while it's not been the most comfortable saddle I've ever used straight out of the box, it's far from the most uncomfortable either. It's a saddle which gets more comfortable as it wears in and the more time I spend on it the less I notice it. Of course, part of that could be my adjusting to the saddle as much as the saddle's Wing Flex permanently flexing to match me as Fizik claim. All in all, the Fizik Arione Versus strikes an excellent balance of comfort, weight and cost, though it takes a little time to break in."

- Wing Flex sides, extra padding and central channel are all good comfort-oriented features
- Light/saddlebag mount at the back is a smart feature

- Takes a little time to break in
