Description
The great features of the Look Keo Classic pedals are now available for less thanks to the new Keo Classic 3.

The Keo Classic 3 is constructed from a strong composite material, has a large surface area for excellent stability and power transfer, benefits from adjustable cleat entry/release spring tension, and includes the Keo Grip cleats.

The Keo Classic 3 spindle is made up of an oversized steel axle with miniature ball bearings (12mm inside x 18mm outside) and a needle bearing cartridge for improved wear resistance. A spacer is used to hold the needle bearing cartridge in place. A new method of fitting the spindle into the pedal body also ensures the prolonged reliability of Look pedals. Look spindles are only approved after a rotational test of 2 million cycles at 100 rpm with a load of 90kg on the centre of the pedal and an eccentric rotation (replicating a bump each revolution). This test is far more gruelling to the current industry standard, the EN14781.
Keo Classic Spindle
- Resistance adjustable from 8 to 12Nm: the adjustable range for the spring tension allows any type of user (from beginner to experienced rider) to find the fit that best suits the way they ride.

- Composite body, chromoly axle
- Lightweight: 140g per pedal (348g per pair including cleats and hardware)

Look Keo Classic 3 pedals review, road.cc, January 2017 (for full review see here):
"The Look Keo Classic 3s are good mid-level pedals that offer a decent base for power transfer, have an easy-to-use adjustable mechanism, and are well made and robust.
At 276g for the pair, they are almost exactly the same weight as the Classic 2s. Shimano's 105 5800 pedals, which are more than twice the price, weigh 11g per pedal more - which shows that the Looks are strong in this area, despite their low price.

You can buy cheaper pedals, but £40 is a really good price, especially bearing in mind that they are genuine Look units; the Classic 2s had an RRP of £64.99, so these are 38.5% cheaper than their predecessor.

Overall I think the Classic 3s are really good pedals. They look good on the bike, perform well and have a good contact area for better power transfer. Many of the internal improvements of the pedals cannot be accurately tested in a limited time review, given that they are intended to increase longevity, but from what I've seen these are a good upgrade to a trusted beginner/intermediate pedal design.

Verdict:
A great update to what was already a reliable and sturdy offering
Score: 4/5

Look Keo Classic 3 pedals review, Cycling Plus magazine, August 2018:
"These are Look's entry level Keos, and in their third incarnation have continued to improve. The lightweight composite body shape is more in tune with their expensive siblings, and is easy to use benefiting from a serrated centre to help with shoe traction for easy of entry. They spin without issue on oversize chromoly axles on a combination of loose balls and needles cartridge bearings. Spring tension is adjustable and they come with Look's 4.5-degree float cleats. These offer impressive performance with no hotspots, are easy to use and relatively light."
Score: 4.5/5
